SOBRE EL MARTINISMO

The Martinist Order as we know it today stands on tree pillars sharing the same ground. Martinez de Pasqually who founded the Order of the Elus Cohen and his two most advantaged initiates. Louis Claude de Saint Martin and Jean Baptiste Willermoz fundamental for Masonry and Martinism as well. As he became a Reau-Croix he wrote down the rituals and ceremonies performed exclusively by the Reau-Croix, practicing Teurgy as taught by Martinez de Pasqually. Some of this drawing does still exist as we may appreciate in the photo.

The image we appreciate in the photo shows a ceremony in times of Jean Baptiste Willermoz performed in the Order of the "Elus Cohen" founded by Martinez de Pasqually. Willermoz and Saint Martin worked closely with Martinez de Pasqually. It is safe that both became in fundamental. When Martinez de Pasqually passed away Saint Martin chose the "Way of the Heart and Cordiality in order to reach communion with God and is known thereafter as the spiritual Father of the Martinist Order. Willermoz instead preferred to continue with Masonry & Teurgy (Higher knowledge of Creation - or godly magic if you will) and influenced greatly Masonry by restoring the Scottish Rite.

Jean Baptiste Willermoz (1730 - 1824) was truly an influent man. He was a French Freemason and outstanding Martinist, a chemist and physician. At the age of 20 he was initiated and with 23 he became a Venerable Master. He contributed greatly to the creation of the Regular Gran Lodge of Masters in Lyon, his home city. Martinez de Pasqually admitted him to the 1º of the Order of the "Elus Cohen (later on known as the Martinist Order thanks to Louis Claude de Saint Martin). In 1767 he was then initiated by Martinez de Pasqually given the rank of Reau-Croix. In 1774 he set up the Rite of the Strict Observance - the Scottish Rite.
